CHPA Senior Director of Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Marcia D. Howard, Ph.D., is the association’s principal spokesperson on dietary supplement issues. She also assists CHPA on over-the-counter medicine topics and plays a critical role in coordinating the association’s annual Research & Scientific Conference (RSC). Howard also coordinates many of CHPA’s internal and external meetings with members, regulators, and other stakeholders.
Howard joined CHPA in 2004 from the Department of Physiological Sciences at the Oklahoma State University (OSU) College of Veterinary Medicine after completing a National Institutes of Health (NIH) post-doctoral fellowship. Prior to working at OSU, she worked at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe; State Farm Insurance Company; and the Frederick Cancer Research Facility at Program Resources, Incorporated.
Howard has degrees in biochemistry and pharmaceutical sciences, with emphasis in neurotoxicology. She is an associate member of the Society of Toxicology (SOT), as well as a member of the International Neurotoxicology Association (INA), the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS), and Compact for Faculty Diversity (Southern Regional Educational Board Chapter).
